ACOUSTIC CONSULTANCY

Renovated Building

RESIDENTIAL

Part E of the Building Regulations for England and Wales provides the minimum acoustic performance standards for new build and refurbished dwellings.

Regulation E1 relates to sound insulation between separate dwellings. Regulation E2 provides a minimum standard for the sound insulation of walls and floor within dwellings. Regulation E3 ensures that adequate noise control measures are provided within communal corridors.

CJS Acoustics specialise in providing the most cost effective specifications for compliance, whilst creating a high standard of acoustic amenity for occupants.

Whether your working on a small scale refurbishment, or a large scale residential development we can provide the right consultancy to meet your needs.

EDUCATION

The recommended acoustic performance standards for educational buildings are set out within Building Bulletin 93 (BB93). The guidelines provide acoustic performance criteria in 3 primary areas.

The sound insulation between separate spaces is considered, taking in to account the varying uses and sensitivity to noise. This ensures that the correct levels of sound insulation are specified in all areas - ensuring no disturbances to learning.

External noise ingress is also considered, based on an environmental noise survey. This serves to ensure that internal noise levels are suitable for the intended use of each space.

Reverberation control is also a key part of acoustic design within educational buildings, where the correct room treatments can guarantee speech clarity, and reduce levels of background noise.

Ensuring patient comfort and appropriate working conditions are both essential in the acoustic design of healthcare buildings.

The recommended acoustic performance requirements are provided in the Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 08-01: Acoustics - Which provides criteria in various areas.
